Reasons to be Hopeful

I just started reading, one of my Christmas gifts, “The Book of Joy” by His Holiness the Dalai Lama and Archbishop Desmond Tutu with Douglas Abrams. I am extremely thankful that I can read, have the privilege to write here, that I can experience many more fulfilling,  uplifting moments of life and that I can continue to live and to hope. I would like to share the following from this book: “The ultimate source of happiness is within” Dalai Lama. “We grow in kindness when our kindness is tested” Desmond Tutu.

I am reminded by the above quotes that I must continuously strive to find happiness within, in order to grow in kindness even in these trying times! Further the quote by Marcus Tullius Cicero  “while there’s life, there’s hope” makes me ponder about the notion of hope. Can it be said that hope is alive when the ultimate source of happiness is within and therefore we can grow in kindness when our kindness is tested?  We are here, it is the year 2021 and many of us are living in fear, fear for our lives, fear for what today, tomorrow and our future will bring. Can the notion of hope help us erode some of our fears and challenges? I believe it can, but we have to put hope into action!

Whilst there are opportunities, there is hope.  The virus created so many problems, however there is the opportunity for positive change. It also brought about economic decline and I have to hope and believe that less can be more. We can determine how we going to react to our situation that has come about very suddenly. I don’t always feel okay about this life but I cannot allow the caprices of the pandemic to take away the concept of hope. We have to find reasons to be hopeful.  Whilst we hope for the fast efficient rolling out of the vaccines, we can take back control by helping to slow the spread of the virus by practicing good hygiene, wearing masks and practicing social distancing.

Living in this time is not ideal, but we have to put hope into action so that we can conquer our fears, appreciate what we have in order to live our lives to the fullest. The pandemic brought about world-wide challenges. Now more than ever I have to cling and hold on to hope as we’re presented with these challenges. I know that this can be beneficial and will help with the strengthening of our minds and hearts.

The following quotes from Suga, BTS, give me more reasons to be hopeful and I wish it could be for you as the reader too:

“Life is tough, and things don’t always work out well, but we should be brave and go on with our lives.

“Emotions are so different in every situation and every moment, so I think to agonize every moment is what life is.”

As the sun sets there’s hope for a new tomorrow and with sunrise comes a new day, allowing for more reasons to be hopeful.

I believe in God, love and life! Married to my friend, mentor and rock. We have been blessed with two beautiful girls. My personal journey provides opportunities for me to empower individuals to lead better lives. I have had a real desire to work with people for a long time and have always been fascinated with human behaviour and understanding how the mind works.
I love the following quote by H. Jackson Brown, Jr. “Remember that children, marriages and flower gardens reflect the kind of care they get”

Thank you for sharing!.. I believe as long as we follow our heart, leaving the fears of the mind behind, we will see a better tomorrow… “Hope is the thing with feathers that perches in the soul – and sings the tunes without the words – and never stops at all.”( Emily Dickinson)… 🙂

Until we meet again..

May flowers always line your path
and sunshine light your way,
May songbirds serenade your
every step along the way,
May a rainbow run beside you
in a sky that’s always blue,
And may happiness fill your heart
each day your whole life through.
May the sun shine all day long
Everything go right, nothing go wrong
May those you love bring love back to you
And may all the wishes you wish come true
(Irish Saying)

If life were always easy, we would have no reason to hope for something better, or to press ourselves onward toward a goal. To hope is to put problems aside and work toward solutions for our own life and for the lives of others. I find that getting outside myself and doing for and with others brings happiness because it was inside all the time, I just had to get out of the way and allow it to bubble forth. A very informative post, Blessingsf!

If I look within myself, I find that my only hope is in Jesus Christ. I am a sinner saved by His grace (G.R.A.C.E – God’s Riches At Christ’s Expense). Without Him, no amount of looking within, looking without, positive thinking, or good deeds would keep me from eventually dying and facing divine judgment. And when that day ofo judgment comes, I am lost forever without my Advocate, my Savior. Only His death could pay the price for my sin and make me clean enough to enter a perfect place.
“There is a way that seems right to a man, but in the end it leads to death.” Proverbs 14:12

I very much like your reminder about the importance of putting hope into action. I recently ordered 10,000 postcards which say “the future belongs to those who vote” on one side so that I can continue sending postcard messages to potential voters in political races which continue to happen all around the USA. This helps me not to slide too deeply into fear and despair. Thank you for writing and sharing this blog post.
