Marching into Autumn

Here in the Southern Hemisphere, marching into autumn reminds me how march (much) I love autumn😊 Yes, you right if you guessed that it’s the beginning of autumn here in the month of March. Autumn (Fall) is usually warm and dry with days getting shorter and the temperature cooling as it gets nearer to winter. Autumn in South Africa parades in light showers that are generally accompanied by heavy clouds. During autumn, the country experiences sunshine during the day and moderate rainfalls. The nights during autumn are usually cold.

During the day I cannot help but enjoy the warm sunshine that helps to embrace the usually cold night. The spectacular, red, yellow, and brown colours are more reasons to embrace the season. I know my yard will be filled with leaves especially from the old oak tree, but that’s the beauty of autumn for me. The leaves can be quite a mess, as many would point this out, but I choose to appreciate the mess and the beauty of it all.

The scattered leaves quickly heap up, just minutes after it’s been swept and cleaned up. It can be frustrating if you want a clear path, but I’ll rather take in the beauty and appreciate the positivity that comes with it all. My immediate pleasure is witnessing the beautiful and colourful carpet provided by nature adorning my driveway, pathway, and yard. I know that I will have plenty a mulch for compost too. Autumn brings heavy clouds, that’s also the promise of rain that surely is good for my garden and the environment too. In addition, the windy autumn days, bring along the rustling of the leaves sounding like music too. Autumn is also a time to transition summer into winter. What a wonderful way to prepare us for the much colder days.

Life can be likened to the many seasons, embrace whatever the season life may bring your way. Like autumn, in life there is a time for slowing down and preparation. May we find the joy and positivity whatever falls our way. Nature does not resist the change, may we too experience life by accepting the challenges of change.

Again, I quote: Ecclesiastes 3:1-8

“There is a time for everything,

and a season for every activity under the heavens:

a time to be born and a time to die,

a time to plant and a time to uproot,

a time to kill and a time to heal,

a time to tear down and a time to build,

a time to weep and a time to laugh,

a time to mourn and a time to dance,

a time to scatter stones and a time to gather them,

a time to embrace and a time to refrain from embracing,

a time to search and a time to give up,

a time to keep and a time to throw away,

a time to tear and a time to mend,

a time to be silent and a time to speak,

a time to love and a time to hate,

a time for war and a time for peace.”

Autumn is probably my favourite month! The days are still warm and the fierce Southerly wind dies down here on the west coast … perfect for long evenings outside. I know these verses from Ecclesiastes very well – for some reason, I read it often … just to remind me, there is indeed a time for everything 💌. Thank you for reminding me of a beautiful season and a beautiful bible verse.

I love your outfit and the beautiful scenery behind you. I can feel in your writing how much you enjoy autumn! I like hearing the dry crunchy sounds the leaves make as the dogs run through them or how they rustle along, tumbling in the wind. Take care.

What a lovely write Henrietta. I am surprised that you have fall in March. I am not knowledgeable about South African’s climate. I love what you said about the leaves. We know neighbors who are out racking leaves every weekend. I don’t understand it. However everyone certainly has the right to tend to their yards the way they desire. We enjoy watching the birds turn and flip the golden brown leaves in the air as they look for bugs and worms. It also provides nutritional food for the lawn. What a beautiful piece of scripture to go with this lovely post. I love those verses. Enjoy your fall and sending abundant love and hugs your way. 🍂🍁🍂❤️

Thank you Joni for your lovely comment. It’s fascinating that we experiencing differences in our seasons across the world, but also so amazing that we do go through every season, even though at different times. Here in SA we all experiencing autumn from March to May, we however have different climates in separate parts of our country. Thank you for sharing the story of the birds and leaves, I love watching the birds in my garden too. Have a great week ahead and enjoy your season 💕🌸

Thank you for sharing your wonderful thoughts!!.. with change being the law of life, I think fall is time for nature to stop in order to rest and reboot, and spring is time for nature to awaken and renew… I look forward to the rest (Fall) to contemplate my tomorrows and to spring with new adventures!.. 🙂

Hope you have a wonderful day, and fall, filled with peace and happiness and until we meet again..
May love and laughter light your days,
and warm your heart and home.
May good and faithful friends be yours,
wherever you may roam.
May peace and plenty bless your world
with joy that long endures.
May all life’s passing seasons
bring the best to you and yours!
